Overgrown
Rainbow City Park
Rainbow City Park is excited to announce the release of their upcoming single, “Overgrown” – out December 3rd, 2024. Departing from their usual upbeat style, this track embraces a more stripped-back indie/folk vibe, inviting listeners through an introspective account of growing up.
“Overgrown” was mixed and engineered by renowned producer Maryam Qudus, known for her work with Taylor Swift, Alanis Morissette and La Luz. The song was recorded at the world famous Tiny Telephone of Oakland, CA and mastered by Ed Brooks, recognized for his work with Pearl Jam, Death Cab for Cutie and Fleet Foxes.
“Overgrown” beautifully captures bittersweet nostalgia and the challenges of growing up, with poignant lines like, “I see aging in photos now / I don’t want to think of all the things I’ll soon live without”. These sentiments speak to anyone who is facing the fleeting nature of youth while still resonating with those who want to reflect back. The chorus propels the listener further, “There’s no more throwing rocks at advertisement screens,” highlighting the transition from the forgiving years of adolescence, to the accountability of adulthood.
This new single follows their previous release, “Complicate This”. These two songs showcase the band’s sonic and emotional range, setting the stage for their upcoming EP, “Fruitless”, set to be released in February of 2025.
